Studio ISES was the place to be last Friday evening. The golden age of going out made a one night return at the Metropolitan Ballroom for local event professionals to come and boogie the night away. Can you dig it? Each year the International Special Events Society hosts the Star Awards, an awards ceremony for their members and the nominees who submitted to the categories with their award winning event. The winners are voted on by another ISES chapter, this year Denver’s chapter had the duty of selecting the winners. Après was nominated for two awards, Best ISES Team Effort and Best Support Services- Tent Installation, and took home the award in both categories!
Star Awards is much more than an awards ceremony, sponsors from the ISES group come together with over the top décor and elements to make the evening worthy of an award itself! With the Studio 54 theme in mind the décor committee collected just about every gold sequin item they could get their hands on and transformed the ballroom into Studio 54. It took two days and lots of hands to get the job done. No party, especially a party planned by industry experts, would be complete without properly themed food and drinks, even down to those serving the themed food. Oh can’t forget the candy cigarettes! Guests sipped on Harvey Wallbangers while delicious treats were passed by gold bow-tie wearing models. Ice sculptures with none other than Studio 54 icon, Andy Warhol kept the seafood bar chilled and in theme. Groovy!
The party really got started following the awards ceremony, MN Roller Girls were bootin’ around the floor, go-go dancers grooved to the DJ’s beats, and guests hit the light up dance floor to dance the night away! Yes, light up dance floor that goes to the beat of the music, they may not have had this in the 70’s but I am sure they would have wanted it! The go-go dancers were hard to miss as they were topless except for the gold and black paint covering the top of their bodies. If getting down to the music wasn’t your style perhaps a stop at the photo booth or a chat in the sunken living room is more your beat. No doubt all the Studio ISES guests had fun to the MAX! Wonder what the theme will be in 2017?
